Me and my boy

I hardly have any pictures of Luke and I together. I am always the one taking the pictures. Last night I was snuggling with him and Leif took a few pictures...

Christmas and the tree!

Here are some pictures of Abby and Luke and our Christmas tree. Abby really enjoyed decorating the tree this year.

Leif and I have had this tree since we were married about 7 years ago. It is pretty small and we usually don't put any ornaments on it because the branches can't hold the weight well. We usually decorate it with garland, white lights and some red bows. Well, this year Abby was not going to let us get away with that. She found some ornaments, made some ornaments and got some from Grandma. She decorated the tree by herself for the most part and is very happy with it. Everything isn't spaced out perfectly but I love it because my daughter did it. I had to stop myself from moving the ornaments and bows around and just let her be a kid and do it her way. Maybe next year we will get a bigger tree. I just can't get rid of this one, yet!

High Five!

Last night Leif was having his boy time with Luke. He kept saying "give me five." It looks like Luke gave his daddy a high five. I thought it was funny!

Smiling

Luke was smiling a ton the other night. I was trying to catch him smiling to take a picture. He would stop as soon as I took the picture. So, here are a few misses and one success.

More of baby Luke

Before our first big outing. We went to the mall. Luke slept the whole time. What a good little shopper!

Big sister time

Luke waking up his daddy with a punch!

First bath

This is right after Luke's first bath. He did not like it at all! It looks like he has a little tear on his cheek but I think it's just bath water.

After the bath, once he was all cuddly and warm.

Week One

Well, Luke is one week old today. The week has gone by pretty fast and I am in love with my little boy. Minus some feeding issues and a few sleepless nights, things are going very well. He loves to be held, of course. He hates to have his diaper changed. During every diaper change he starts crying as soon as you unbutton his clothes. Soon, about the time the wipes come out, he lets out these little screams. It sounds like a little girl who is scared. Abby has been an outstanding big sister. She loves her baby brother and is coping well with the lack of attention from mommy. I am very proud of her. We have had a few girl moments. I painted her toenails and we went to get movies together. I am so used to it being just me and Abby. I miss our "girl time" too. Last night Luke went four hours between feedings during the night. I hope that continues! Here are some pictures from our first week home.

Up close and personal with Luke Russell.

This is a present from Abby. She picked it out at Babies R Us. She said "This is just perfect for baby Luke!" I had to buy it. It plays soothing music and sounds like a rain forest. He laid in his crib for 30 minutes just listening wide awake.

He is not crying...although it kind of looks like he is. This is one of his "smiles" although I don't think babies start smiling quite yet. Maybe it's gas :)

Dancing the night away

This video is from Lena's (Leif's sister) wedding. The kids danced all night. This is my favorite video I captured of Abby doing her "techno dancing."

Abby 'laughing'

After Abby's bath the other night she got into this laughing fit. It started out real and then she began to do her fake laugh. By the time I got the camera to video tape her she was well into her fake laugh but I thought it was so cute I had to catch it on video.

Pumpkin painting

Abby had a field trip at school on Wednesday. I went along to help chaperone. We went to Bonneybrook Farms. The bus driver got lost on the way out and it took quite awhile to get there. The three and four year olds started to get a bit restless. Once we got there they all had fun riding in the wagon, seeing the animals, picking out pumpkins and playing. One of the ponies bit a little boy in Abby's class. It left a mark! Abby and I painted out pumpkins last night when we got home. One-I am not very artistic. Two-I didn't buy the right paint for pumpkin painting. We had fun, nonetheless!

New costume

As I have already posted, Abby is into Ninja Turtles. Her cousins, Austin and Brayden, had this costume and gave it to Abby the other day. Abby was sooooo excited. She didn't want to take it off. What happened to my little princess? :)

Hot tub!

The other night Pappaw took all the grandkids in the hot tub while Lena and Tim opened their wedding presents inside. What a sweat Pappaw!

My little cleaner

The other night I asked Abby to pick up her room before going to bed. Normally this request is followed by Abby saying something like, "can you help me" or "I can't do it by myself." Well, this night she began cleaning her room without any protest or requests for help. I was watching her clean up and she actually did a VERY good job. She had to find a spot for each of her dinosaurs and small polly pocket dolls. She kept saying, "hmm, where should this go? I have to find the perfect spot for it." She would put something away on her shelf, stand back to look at it, turn it a bit or move it over an inch and then say "There! Just perfect!" It was funny watching her being so careful to organize things just right. When she was finished she said, "I am so glad I can clean my room by myself. When I was three I would just cry."

Abby's new hair!!!!!!!!!!

Abby is now, for some reason, into ninja turtles. She insists that we call her Leonardo or Leo. As you can see Abby got her hair cut. I wanted to take some pictures of her new look and she wanted to pose with her ninja turtle "book." It is really the jacket cover to the DVD.

Now, about the hair. She has been asking to get her hair cut short "like Dee Dee." (Her cousin Darian) I finally said ok. It is sooooo short and she looks like a big girl. She loves her new hair cut and I am starting to agree with her. We have had no more crying during hair brushing since it got cut!

Lena's Wedding Shower

Darian, Abby and Sophie playing along with the games.

Lena and her beautiful bouquet.

Mom Hyrne reading from the Bible. She always has a short devotional at the Hyrne shower's. This day she reminded us that we are apple of God's eye!

We had an apple theme for Lena's shower. September is apple month and Lena's bridesmaid's dresses are apple color. We played a game where everyone had to guess different types of apples by look and smell. Here is Anna showing one of the apples to Lena. Below is a picture of the size bite Lena took out of an apple. Everyone had to take a bite of an apple. The one closest to the size bite Lena took won. Everyone took really huge bites. As you can see, Lena's was really tiny.
